LENNON70 Film by Jason Whiton
Synopsis: An experimental sound and film collage that pays tribute to John Lennon. Made during the artist's 70th Anniversary celebration, Oct-Nov 2010.
Soundtrack: Rather than
composing a contemporary mash up, the experimental score weaves
original music by Whiton with brief samples of Beatles Christmas messages (mailed
to fans in the 1960s on flexi-disc records), and two, one-note phrases by The Beatles and Bauhaus.
Trivia: The film features original footage from Tokyo and TV broadcast images of John Lennon and The Beatles, all in the blue photography style of Whiton's film I Was a Dancer. Whiton is also the creator of an award-winning short film and score for Yoko Ono, The Sun is Down.
